DEVIATION GAME

With their project, Tomo Kihara︎︎︎ and Playfool︎︎︎ leverage on the visual knowledge that modern AIs have access to, and challenge us to find playful ways to deviate from it. Designed as a multi-player game, the installation asks us to draw a given word and do our best to prevent the AI from understanding what that word is, making our human co-players guess instead.

Plot Generica joined the team to focus on the sound design of their experience, including the ambient background music of the pre-game, the playing song of the drawing phase and its variations for the result reveal and the following moment of reflection. Part of the commission were also the various UI sounds, from button clicks to pencil drawing, and the voice of the AI, which was generated by using original voice recordings.

The installation kicked-off at the Civic Creative Base in Tokyo, moved to the Somerset House in London, and will be touring more locations soon.
