“The project explores and re-imagines the relationship between a person with reduced mobility and their carers during dressing rituals. Employing performative practices within research is also a way to give a voice to patients, acknowledge caregivers, and enable an alternative and more engaging communication with the general audience.”

Plot Generica was asked to create 8 tracks (defined as “movements”) to accompany the contemporary dance performance. Given the theme of the project, the artist wished for the movements to channel delicate feelings such as melancholia and tenderness, while reflecting the nuanced difficulties of the caregiver-patient relationship.

The movements were composed by merging soothing pianos and distorted synths to bring to life such balance. Inspired by the actions performed during the different parts of the choreography, each movement has a different ratio of its sounds and a melodic progression that adapts to the physical interactions between the two performers.
